Louisvillian Tapped to Fight Genocide
A Louisville woman has been awarded a fellowship to combat genocide around the world. Jan Arnow, who is an expert on multicultural education and on reducing prejudice and violence, has been named a 2010 Carl Wilkens Fellow, one of 18 to receive th honor. Arnow will receive advocacy training, access to experts and an organizing grant. The honor, from the nonprofit Genocide Intervention Network, is named after the only American to stay in Rwanda to help through the entirety of the Rwandan genocide, according to the organization. Arnow's most recent work included designing a three-year coalition-building program in Rwanda and the Congo, according to a press release. |
